Holiday Weekend Recap

Labor Day has come and gone, and it is time to focus on Fall friends!
How was everyone's holiday weekend?!

We had quite the eventful weekend in Atlanta.
The Georgia State Panthers opened their season with a 41-7 win (yay), and one of the most fun tailgates we've ever had!
I may have had a little too much fun tailgating - which might not have been a good idea considering I was fighting the flu.

Saturday I woke up feeling pretty rough from the night before, and honestly thought I was going to spend the first official Saturday of football curled up in a blanket on the couch.

But, after two hours of College Game Day, I told Michael I was ready to re-group, and wanted to go tailgate with all our friends for the UGA/Boise State game at the GA Dome.
I'm so glad I did.

Even though I was exhausted, and sick from the flu, I made it through 6 hours of hanging out with our friends, eating good tailgate foods, and managed to drink water the entire time!  Who said you can't tailgate sober?!

I wish I had taken more pictures of the weekend, but all I have are the few that I managed to snap with my phone, so I apologize in advance for the not so great quality.

Sunday came, and we had a drastic change of weather down here in Atlanta.  We went from hot, sunny and humid, to chilly and rainy.  I have to say that I am welcoming the cold front.  Atlanta has been in the upper 90s since the middle on May.

~~~~~~~~~~~
My sweet Mama slipped and broke her knee cap Sunday morning.  Her phone call was one of the scariest I've ever gotten.  She was in tears, and screaming from the pain.  My dad was out running his Sunday morning 15 miles, and we had no way of getting in touch with him.
I rushed over their house, called an ambulance, and 20 minutes later, I was sitting in the ER with her, and her broken knee. They took two X-rays, and came back to tell us that the knee cap was broken, and she needed surgery.
It was scary, and overwhelming.
You never really know how you are going to react in these types of situations, and as much as I want to say that I kept it together - I broke down.
A part of me felt selfish because one of my first thoughts were "my wedding is in 7 weeks, and she won't be able to dance on my wedding day."  It broke my heart to think about the most important day of my life, and not knowing if my mom would be able to walk around, and enjoy herself.
It was a freak accident, and unfortunately, these things happen.  I am so thankful that it was only a knee, and that she will fully recover from this.
I hope everyone had a GREAT holiday weekend :)
