I'm Still Here

I’m alive.  I swear.

I have been the biggest blogger procrastinator.  Not because I don’t want to blog, but because I haven’t had much time.

I'm also working on some new design for my blog.  Get excited.   It is going to look so pretty!

I started my new job.  I am in love.  With the people, the work, the office, and being in the city again.

I don’t know why people complain about working in midtown – I love it here!

It makes me realize how much I’ve been missing out these past two years.

From cool little restaurants, to fun bars, to things to do, midtown is just awesome.

It is fun working with new people, and learning a whole new industry.

I won’t bore you with the accounting details – but going from the restaurant industry (wendy’s/arby’s), to a smaller/private industrial Real Estate company, definitely has its perks.

Yesterday I found out my new company gives five (yes, FIVE) extra days of vacation for honeymoons (on top of the three weeks of vacation we have).  Unheard of.  I love it.

It is the little things people.

The little things, and the BIG things.  Like a wedding.  Like my soon-to-be sister and brother in law’s wedding.  And it is THIS weekend!!!

I can’t wait.  It is going to be so much fun.  All of Michael’s family will be in town, and we are going to be crazy busy.

I can’t wait to share pictures, and details of what I believe is going to be one of the prettiest weddings I’ve ever seen.

Believe me. Betsy knows what she is doing!

I love her and David so much and I could not be more excited, and honored to be a part of their big day!

Orange

We officially have a caterer.  I can breathe.  Let the fun begin!

I can honestly say that this was the only stressful part of our wedding planning so far.  I hope I don't jinx myself.

I love our menu.  Love the details.

Now it's all fun and games until October.  Decorations, flowers, invitations, and favors.

Wait - Save the Dates too.  We are taking our engagement pictures in a week, and I could not be more nervous.

I am NOT photogenic.  I have come to accept it, and I have moved on.

Till now.  What am I going to do?

This is going to be awkward, I know it.  M bug and I might have to have a glass of wine (or a mimosa since we are taking the pics in the morning) beforehand.  Or three.

I started thinking about what shoes I want to wear with my dress.  I know, it's early.  BUT given that our wedding colors are orange and gray, Spring/Summer is the best time to find orange shoes.

Yes, I will be wearing orange shoes.  I am thinking something like this for the reception.

Yes? No? Hmmm maybe?  I am obsessed with Tory Burch ANYTHING.  And I will definitely wear those again! (Is that a good enough argument for spending $195 on sandals?)  Not sure M bug is going to agree.

Gleeking Out And Wedding Cakes

It is no secret that I love Glee.  If you follow my tweets, or have read my blog long enough, you know I am obsessed with the show.

So, let's talk about last nights episode.  The Glee club finally made it back to Regionals, and won.  Why I the only one moved by their "original" songs, and Rachel Berry's performance?

I don't know if it was because I've had an exhausting past couple of weeks, and the stress of leaving my current job is finally catching up with me; but I cried my eyes out during her song "Get It Right".

via - I wish youtube had the episode version available

Michael calls me a "Gleek."  I think he is right.

Yes, I want Rachel and Finn back together.  Yes, I hate Quinn and I think she is evil.  Yes, I think it's awesome that Blaine and Kurt finally got together.  Yes, I am  a Glee nerd - and I own it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you are still reading - I'm sorry if I officially scared you off with my Gleekness. We all have flaws, right?
Well, I know today is Wednesday, which means: Wedding Wednesday!
I've been going back and forth trying to decide what kind of wedding cake I would like.  Is that too greedy to admit that I would like two wedding cakes?!  Let me explain.
I really want the French version of a wedding cake; which essentially is about a hundred little cream puffs filled with either vanilla or chocolate cream, covered with a caramel glaze to form a pyramid of cream puffs.  I believe they are called "Croquembouche" in America.
If done the right way, they turn out beautiful - and so unique!
A part of me also want to celebrate the American tradition of wedding cake - which is where I thought "why don't we have two cakes?!"  Of course, with a French twist.
I love macarons, and from the moment I started planning my wedding (10 years ago), I told myself I would find a way to incorporate them in my cake.  I can't really do a pyramid of macarons, because it would look silly next to the French version of the wedding cake.
So I thought - why not do cupcakes topped with a mini-macarons? Cute, thought right?  Or course, I would love a full on big wedding cake, topped with macarons just like this one,
But I am not sure that I can afford two large wedding cakes.  So I might just settle for cupcakes topped with a mini-macaron.
What do you think?!
Welcoming all suggestions and ideas here!
Happy Hump Day ladies!!!
Nostalgic for Europe
Maybe it is because of the rain; the gloomy weather; and listening to the French radio.  But I am in full "France/Europe" mode this morning.
I can't stop thinking about the streets of Paris; gelatto in Venice; the delicious pretzels and beer gardens of Munich, and the eerie streets of Budapest.
I went backpacking around Europe during Summer 2006.  It was amazing.  I want to go back with Michael, and show him these amazing cities.
PARIS
VENICE
ROME
BUDAPEST
MUNICH
I honestly recommend anybody to take a trip around Europe at least once.  There is so much to see, and the history is just amazing.
I went into it not exactly knowing where we would go, but had an idea of the cities we wanted to visit.  Backpack and all, we traveled around Europe for two weeks.
We had a euro pass, so we were able to hop in and out of trains as we wished.
I walked more in those two weeks than I ever did before.  Wich works out well, since I ate just about anything I could get my hands on!  The foods were a great part of the trip as well - especially real Italian pasta, and pizza!
All you need is one companion, a good travel guide book, a a bag pack, a euro pass, and you are set!
Do it - you will not regret it! Europe - you have my heart.
Happy Tuesday lovelies :)
Randomness Monday
Daylight savings + a long weekend + a busy week ahead = a very tired bug.
I'm sure I am not the only one who had a hard time getting up this morning.  It was miserable.  I could have slept another five hours.
We had a fun, yet eventful weekend.  A baby shower, a couple's shower, a housewarming party/birthday, and a little bit of wedding planning.
We looked for wedding bands, and picked the band that will match my engagement ring - I love it.
I have been trying to decide what kind of decorations I want for our centerpieces.  For some reason, I cannot make a decision.  I saved a few pictures on the knot, but no decisions made yet.
I guess you can say that I have a thing for clear vases.  I also really like the cylinder shape - so it helps!
As for the flowers, I do not have a preference.  Our wedding venue is outside - so I am thinking a bunch of different wild orange flowers.
No one told me planning a wedding would become an obsession.  But I admit it - I am obsessed - and I love it!
Happy Monday :)
I Can't Sleep So You Get A Music Post
You know how after a reaaaaally long week you either crash as soon as it's over - or you simply are too delirious to go to sleep?!
This is me right now. M bug and I have spent the last two hours going over potential wedding play list songs.
We actually decided which song we wanted as our first dance (finally!), and discovered a  common passion for indie music, and bands no one has ever heard  of. Thank you Pandora?! Hmmm you tell me.
BUT - this made me realize that it had been a while since my last music post, and I decided you needed to hear "Little Lion Man" by Mumford and Sons.
If I haven't mentioned it before - music is a very big part of my life.   I would choose music over TV any day - and I hope that you will enjoy some of my favorite discoveries as much as I do!
Fill In The Blank Friday
I shouldn't be blogging - I should be working.
I left work at 9.30pm last night, and after a 13+ hour day, I am already back. Someone please remind me why I decided to become an Accountant?
At least it's Friday - which means I am wearing jeans, and you get my wonderful Fill in the Blank Friday!
I hope all of you lovelies had a GREAT week, and an even better weekend ahead!!
{a happy little photographic accident}
1.   My biggest accomplishment in life thus far is  moving to America, and building a great life for myself.  It wasn't easy at first - it was actually a nightmare. I had to learn a new language, new school system, make new friends, and felt like I was in a different world.  But I like to think that I succeeded in this journey and I have an amazing Fiance, a great career, and my family and I couldn't be happier about our decision.
2.  My favorite place to sit in my house is  on the corner of our couch, with a bunch of pillows and a comfy blanket!
3.  My fashion philosophy is  hmmm be cute and comfy!? I guess I like to try things here and there; and I like to play in the trends - however, I always have to feel comfortable, or else I just know I look awkward.
4.  Something every girl should have is  a go-to purse, or pair of shoes AND a nice scarf.  Even when I am just wearing jeans and a white t-shirt, a cute scarf and shoes/purse totally make the outfit!
5.  If you looked in my purse right now you'd find  my wallet, moleskine planner (something I cannot live without), keys, sunglasses, a pouch with eyeliner, touch-up makeup, chapstick and hand sanitizer, some mail, gum, change, a gift certificate to Zara I REALLY need to use, midol, my passport, and some random pieces of paper - what a mess!
6.  My favorite music right now is  Mumford and Sons - the pandora station is amazing!
7.  My favorite part of my body is  ummm probably my arms. They are really thin, and I've never felt unconscious because I don't really have a lot of hair, and for some reason, I just never gain weight there haha!
Thank you Lauren over at The Little Things We Do for hosting these every week!
